WordCamp Boston Announces Ignite WordCamp!

ignite_logowcWe’ve said all along WordCamp Boston will be different, so we’re excited to announce the very first Ignite WordCamp! Most WordCamps have integrated some lightning talks, but we wanted to take it one step further.

“I think it’s a great idea to integrate Ignite presentations into your Wordcamp, and we’re happy to help you have a great event” – Mary Rotman, O’Reilly

Saturday afternoon, we’ll host Ignite WordCamp in front of the entire WordCamp Boston audience. There will be additional surprises and contests, as well. For those not familiar with the Ignite format, each presenter will be alloted 5 minutes on the nose for their presentation. Their 20 slides will auto-advance every 15 seconds, outside of their control. This is in the pecha kucha tradition.

Who are the presenters?

YOU. Look for a blog post soon announcing that Ignite is open for proposals, and then the camp will be able to vote on the most popular sessions. The eight with the most votes will present at WordCamp.

What are the guidelines?

Aside from the above 5 minute,20 slide format- the only guidelines are that your topic must be WordPress related and you must be passionate about the topic!

A BIG thank you to Rackspace for sponsoring Ignite WordCamp.
