Making it Work: The Practical Track

Somewhere between being inspired by the incredible things that others have done with WordPress, and getting lost in PHP Coding lies a land where there is a job to be done and the goal is to just make it happen.  The Practical Track will focus on a terrific variety of relevant topics that will leave you equipped to start using them on your own website.

These sessions will be chock full of useful, real-world  information that really matters to you, as a WordPress user.

We’re so excited to welcome Karen Rubin from local marketing rockstar company Hubspot. A blog isn’t just about content, it’s about how that content creates relationships, so Karen is going to teach you to Rock Your Blog. Shayne Sanderson proudly tells people he didn’t need years of code school to learn to hack with the best of them, he’ll teach you his techniques in  PHP & CSS, Oh My! A tweak here and a hack there and suddenly you have a customized solution to meet your specific needs.

Ready or not the WPMU merge is coming,  Jane Wells of Automattic will explain what it means in MU-ving to MU. Everyone is always blown away by Brad Williams‘ funny and informative point by point plan to help keep your site safe and secure.

Once you are filled up on lunch, we’ll tackle the very contemporary realities of liability in an online world, with the How Not to Get Sued Panel.  This is when we bring out the big guns, and delve into SEO Analysis with one of the great metric guys on the East Coast: Corey Eulas.  We’re going to wrap things up with a practical session on video for your site-hardware, software, processes and hosting in Get Seen with Steve Garfield.

The Practical Track is purposefully planned to not be for any specific skill level, but rather, based around interest topics.  We’re already getting feedback on how exciting some of these classes are, and we can’t wait to hear you feedback after the event. See you Jan 23 at the NERD Center!
